Are you entitled to child benefit?
You are entitled to child benefit if you receive one of the following benefits in Belgium:
- Full unemployment benefit
- Partial unemployed benefit
- (Early) retirement benefit
- Bankruptcy benefit as a previously self-employed person
We receive the necessary information concerning your employment situation from the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises automatically. We review your situation each month to determine whether you are entitled to child benefit. You therefore need not do anything yourself.
If you are refused unemployment benefits by the National Employment Office, you may still be entitled to child benefit. You should therefore register as a jobseeker with VDAB, Actiris, Forem or ADG. We also look at the reasons for refusal of unemployment benefits. If, based on these conditions, you are entitled to child benefit, then you are not eligible for the social allowance for the unemployed.
